On CSP - The Solar Alternative That Rivals Nuclear
Allright...Quick math for an attempted fact check
Accionna has 64Mw on 0.625 square mile facility,
and claims the 100 square miles could power the US
Yet a facility 160 times larger (to cover 100 sq.miles)
would presumably scale up in a linear fashion and provide 10 240Mw (capacity)
Yet the US consumes about 3.7 billion Mw/hrs per year
So am I missing something ?
On Is geoengineering ready for prime time?
Well...Like it or not we've already been 'geo-engineering' our climate for many decades..Either purposely, or inadvertantly...So any political or ethical questions seem moot at this late stage.
A particularly intriguing form of Geo-Engineerign seems to be getting toyed with up at the edge of Space in the Mesosphere...Either that, or the Dept of Defense and the US. Navy are trying to weaponize the Climate.
Now's there's a question for the poli-ethical pundits ;-]

On Study: Slow Down Natural Gas Development
There's enough undeveloped Hydro in Quebec and Labrador to power most of North America...Unfortunately there are also segmented indigenous self-interests that have been conditioned to believe that the land should simply continue to provide for them as distant descendants of nomadic people....Now through legal-political leverage rather than work. There are also lots of up-and-coming constitutional lawyers who are eager to make names for themselves in filing landclaims to leverage historical anachronisms in exchange for serious financial gains in modern times as well...All based on a sense of historical entitlement that is uniquely Canadian. So don't count on Hydro to come to the rescue, without making some serious concessions to a privileged class of Canadians. Too bad that so many people have been conditioned to fear nuclear, when cars are still killing and maiming more people on a daily basis than have ever been hurt by nuclear energy in it's entire history... Cue the self-rightous reactions based on misplaced guilt, fear, and knee-jerk ignorance.
