Overall, the reports about the lack of federal clean energy development and critical reduction of human caused carbon dioxide emissions are so discouraging that it is becoming increasing difficult to follow main pro-environmental weblogs, much less mainstream media sources.

For example, Think Progress reports on “a Republican effort to repeal light bulb energy efficiency standards — which saves consumers $12 billion a year and reduces electricity usage.” It failed by a vote of 233 to 193.

It is so scary to imagine 193 votes against such an issue, or the time to consider this, when they need to do so much more. There is a critical need, one that has existed for 20 years or more, and representatives of the 1% at the beginning of the Anthropocene seem committed to speeding up destruction of life on the planet as we know it.
