The headline on CNN.com this morning reads: Billionaire Oil Man Backs Wind Power. "Billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens is sinking billions of dollars into a new wind farm in Texas. It is likely to become the biggest in the world, producing enough power for the equivalent of 1.3 million homes."

Earlier this month I posted about Cypress Semiconductor mogul T.J. Rogers making a 100-1 profit over the past five years in his investment in a company that makes solar power systems.  Over the next five years, "I'm going to cut the cost of silicon solar cells in half, and when that happens, it will be a no-brainer that every new home will have a solar roof on it," he said.

I love this stuff.  I hope they both make a ton of money.  I'm as fond of trees as the next guy, but all the tree-hugging in the world is never going to move the needle.  Three cheers for entrepreneurs who want to profit while addressing a problem.
