The owner of the project, Dong Energy, is a state-owned integrated energy company that has a long history of off-shore oil and gas production, owns Denmark's electric utilities and is also developing coal burning power stations in Germany and Scotland. According to a phone interview with the project owner published by Green Inc., Dong Energy expects that Horns Rev 2 will be the world's largest off-shore wind installation for some time to come.
A living platform for 24 workers has been built as part of the project to provide better access to the turbines and towers to mitigate some of the corrosive effects of large, metallic structures in salt water and salty air.
