Shira is from Toronto, Canada and holds a master’s degree from New York University in international and environmental policy. Her interests include the intersection of geopolitics and climate change, particularly with regard to North America and the Pacific. In addition to writing for Climatico, Shira is a contributor for a book on climate change law and policy to be published by the Canadian division of ThomsonReuters. She has worked at Islands First as a climate change adviser, where she helped the Federated States of Micronesia build their policy capacity in their UN Mission in New York and at COP-15 in Copenhagen, and at UNDP’s Equator Initiative, where she worked on biodiversity and poverty reduction programs. She has also worked on Canadian civic engagement and political leadership issues, most recently as a research coordinator at Samara.
